Guitars4Kids collects, repairs, and donates gently used guitars in good, playable condition.

A donation event will be conducted at the intersection of Balboa Boulevard and Strathern Street in Van Nuys, CA on January 14, 2023, from 10:30 am to Noon. Please visit norarosehinesfoundation.org. for more information. Anyone wishing to donate, but unable to attend the event may also contact Pat Hines at nrhfoundation1@gmail.com to arrange for a pickup.

In her short life, Nora Rose-Hines enjoyed nothing more than playing her guitar and sharing her incredible music with others. For years she spent her summer vacations at a Guatemalan orphanage, performing her music for the children, encouraging them to explore their own creativity and building their confidence by playing the guitar. Nora was surely destined to continue sharing the power of her music with children the world over, but we will never know. Four years ago, on November 29, 2018, Nora died in a car crash. She was only 19 years old. To continue Nora’s love and legacy, the Nora Rose-Hines Foundation is launching Guitars4Kids.

Raising Funds for Guitars for Disadvantaged Children

“Teaching self-esteem and confidence through music”

North Hollywood, CA, November 15, 2023 – “Guitars 4 Kids”, sponsored by the Nora Rose-Hines Foundation, is raising money to purchase guitars for children who are eager to play a guitar, but cannot afford to rent or buy one.

The Nora Rose-Hines Foundation is named for Nora Rose-Hines who was a 19-year-old, UCLA college student, singer-songwriter who taught children to explore their creativity and build their confidence by playing the guitar until she was killed on November 29, 2018, in a horrific traffic collision at the corner of Balboa Blvd. and Strathern Street in the Valley.

“Guitars4Kids” is just one initiative of the Nora Rose-Hines Foundation, a 501 c 3, dedicated to the well-being of children. “This is the first of many donation events to distribute 250 guitars annually,” says Nora’s mother, Executive Director and Founder Pat Hines, whose plan is to expand the program throughout California. “Nora enjoyed nothing more than playing her guitar and sharing her music with children so we hope that Guitars4Kids can continue her love of music and her legacy of helping children.
